Ma'an

A city in Jordan, at the southern end of an agricultural belt. Known for its vineyards. By the forties was connected to the capital, Amman, by rail – perhaps earlier.

Population in 1994 is listed as 23,000, in 2001 at 29,900. An assembly plant for the production of British Land Rover vehicles is under construction in 2001.
