Dardanelles

Waterway from the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Mamara. Thirty-seven miles long (60 kilometers). One mile wide and its narrow point, and four miles at its widest.

Its ancient name is Hellespont - where Alexander the Great crossed into Asia in the year 334 BCE.
