Morality, Empathy, Biology

Humans have inherited empathy. They could not have survived without it. The same can be said for dogs. Dogs as dog owners know also have empathy as an inherited characteristic. Without it dogs could not live in packs, and female dogs were not care for their young. Humans who come into the world deprived of this biological characteristic we call psychopaths.

In a debate broadcast last night on C-SPAN, Dinesh D'Souza spoke as though empathy were invented by Christianity. Christianity urges people to care for one another, but empathy was around ages before Christianity and it exists today among people who are not Christian.
